i want to unpolish the world of fiction
I wonder if I still like fiction, because I'm struggling to find anything I genuinely enjoy, whether it’s popular or not. I don’t think I can handle polished stories or conventional narrative structures anymore... They feel like they lack spontaneity, and somehow that makes them boring. The more natural a narrative tries to be, the more artificial it looks to me, but it makes no sense, right?
Sometimes these works make me want to shake my TV, book, or monitor, like I could break the flow or mess up the story. Maybe right now I’m more interested in 'chaos': some awkwardness, loose ends, imperfect endings, no tidy character arcs…
To be honest, I’m not sure what I want... It almost feels like I’m asking for a ‘bad’ story. Am I crazy?
